Session description:
Current satellites are producing earth observation datasets at a faster rate than ever, also sometimes known as Big-earth Data. Several clouds based remote sensing data processing platforms have come up in recent years that provide access to analysis ready data with sufficient processing capabilities. Further availability of open datasets from various sensors is leading to development of novel approaches. This is allowing researchers to monitor environmental problems at an unprecedented spatio-temporal scale. Such platforms are being increasingly used for devising data intensive techniques for nation or region-based monitoring of forestry, agriculture, land-use land cover, wetlands and hydrology, urban studies and natural hazards. Researchers are invited to present and discuss their latest environmental monitoring research that utilized cloud-processing platforms. The cloud-processing platforms examples are Google earth Engine, Sentinel-Hub, Amazon Web Service, Descartes Labs and others.
